Gmund Award Trophy — Unfolded Festival
Gmund Paper is one of the best paper mill in the entire world, producing sustainable papers from generations in Germany. To celebrate the best designers using Gmund Paper, they organize the Unfolded Festival. A print festival were to talk, to exhibit, and to celebrate projects with Gmund Paper.
To best handle a project like this where paper and sustainability has to be so connected. We started the project asking to ourselves: What really paper is about? At his core, what paper stands for? Where paper fits in this world? Paper is one of the ancient durable, natural and valuable material.
Celebrate Paper with the Gmund Award
From centuries paper has guided all humanity, has grown us, given us all our cultural instruments, entertainment and knowledge, leading us to where we are, here, today.
From centuries (more than 3.500 years) paper has been the only way to do that. Think about music, notes, and all your life. What your life can really be without paper?
Concept — Gmund Award Design
Paper from centuries has taught us. Poems, tragedy, philosophy, operas, music, learning, maps and discovery, entrateinment, etc. Nothing of this could have been possible without paper.
So, for the Gmund Award trophy, we have decided to celebrate paper, his history, sustainability, and the best designers using Gmund paper, designing a “Column of Paper”. We used 333 sheets, making a rainbow of sustainable paper, shaped in a column to condense in one object all what Gmund Paper is: Color-full, Sustainable, and Natural. Not even using all the colors of sustainable papers that Gmund produces.
